Uniform and equipment review
Kit is a compliance question before it is a shopping question. PSiRA refuses blue and camouflage uniforms outright, most business radios need an ICASA spectrum licence that takes months, and PPE is a cost you may not pass to staff. This is a written review of what you are planning to buy, before the purchase order goes out.

Frequently asked questions
Why can't my security uniform be blue?
Because a private security uniform may not be confusable with the police or the defence force. PSiRA will not accept shades of blue or camouflage, and the design is assessed as part of your business registration application. Exemptions can be applied for but should not be assumed, which is why the design decision needs to come before the stock order.
Do I need a licence for two-way radios?
Usually yes. Section 31(1) of the Electronic Communications Act prohibits transmitting by radio without a spectrum licence from ICASA. Low power licence free radios are exempt, but the higher power VHF and UHF sets most guarding operations use need a licence, and applications commonly take around three months.
Can I deduct PPE costs from my guards' wages?
No. Regulation 2 of the General Safety Regulations under the Occupational Health and Safety Act requires personal protective equipment to be supplied at no cost to the employee. You may not require staff to buy their own and you may not deduct it from wages, whatever the employment contract says.
Do you sell uniforms or equipment?
No. We review what you are buying against the rules; we do not stock, supply or take a commission on any of it. That is deliberate, because a compliance opinion from the person selling you the stock is worth less than one from somebody with no interest in which supplier you use.
What if my uniform has already been made?
Still worth reviewing, because knowing before your PSiRA application goes in is better than finding out through a rejection. Where a design will not pass we set out what would need to change and whether an exemption application is realistic.
