Books kept every month. Nothing missed.
Most micro businesses do not need an accountant on call. They need someone to capture the bank statement every month, keep the categories straight, and have the figures ready before a SARS (the South African Revenue Service) deadline arrives. That is this service. From R690 a month, month to month, everything in writing. One honest line up front: we keep the books and prepare the figures; the returns are submitted by you on eFiling with our walk-through, or by your registered tax practitioner. The reason is explained below.
What you get
- Your business bank statement captured and reconciled every month, so every rand is accounted for
- Income and expenses put in the right categories, with the tax-deductible ones flagged
- A one page monthly summary in your portal: money in, money out, what you owe SARS so far, what is still unexplained
- Your provisional tax figures (for the IRP6 return) worked out twice a year, with the amount to pay and the date, ready to submit
- Your year-end figures prepared for the annual return: income, expenses, deductions and the closing position, laid out the way the ITR14 (company) or ITR12 (sole proprietor) asks for them
- A step-by-step eFiling walk-through for each submission, or a clean hand-over pack for your registered tax practitioner
- VAT (Value Added Tax) figures for the VAT201 prepared each period if you are a VAT vendor, at no extra cost
- A written reminder before every SARS deadline, and a note when we need something from you
- A WhatsApp line for questions, answered in writing within one business day
- Your full records handed over in a spreadsheet if you ever leave
How ordering works
- Order online with the button below and pay the first month by card or instant EFT (PayFast), or wait for the EFT invoice. Later months are invoiced on the 1st.
- Fill in the short form in your portal: what kind of business, roughly how many bank lines a month, whether you are registered for VAT, and when your financial year ends.
- Each month, upload your bank statement PDF to your portal by the 5th (or set up a read-only bank feed with us). We never ask for your banking login.
- By the 15th your summary is in the portal. Before each SARS date you get the figures and a written walk-through to submit on eFiling, or we send the pack to your tax practitioner. Everything in writing, nothing by phone that is not also written down.

Why you or your practitioner submit the returns
South African law says that anyone who completes or submits a tax return for someone else for a fee must be a registered tax practitioner: registered with SARS and with a recognised controlling body such as SAIT or SAIPA (section 240 of the Tax Administration Act). Bookkeeping needs no such registration. So we do the part we are allowed to do properly, the books and the figures, and we do not pretend to do the part we are not. If you have a registered tax practitioner, we hand them a clean pack and they submit. If you do not, submitting on eFiling with the figures in front of you takes about fifteen minutes and we walk you through it in writing each time.
What this is not
This is bookkeeping for small, simple businesses. It is not an audit or an independent review, which a company only needs above certain size and ownership tests. It is not payroll: if you have staff, the payslips service (R190 a month) does the payslips and the monthly employer return. It is not a tax dispute service: if SARS has raised an assessment you disagree with, that is separate work, quoted in writing before we start. If your books are more than three months behind, ask us first and we quote a fixed catch-up price.
Frequently asked questions
What counts as a transaction, and what if I go over 50?
Every line on your business bank statement is one transaction: a payment in, a payment out, a bank charge. Up to 50 lines a month is R690; up to 150 lines is R990. If you cross a band for one month we tell you and charge that month at the higher band, nothing more. Over 150 lines a month, ask us first and we quote a fixed price in writing.
Do you file my tax returns?
No, and we say so plainly. Filing a return for someone else for a fee needs a registered tax practitioner (section 240 of the Tax Administration Act). We prepare the figures for the provisional (IRP6) returns in August and February, the annual ITR14 or ITR12, and the VAT201 if you are a vendor. You submit on eFiling with our written walk-through, or your registered practitioner submits from our hand-over pack.
What is not included?
Submitting returns to SARS (see above), tax advice, audits and independent reviews, payroll and payslips, SARS disputes and objections, and catching up more than three months of old books. Payslips are a separate R190 a month service. Catch-up bookkeeping is quoted separately.
Can I stop when I want?
Yes. It is month to month. Tell us in writing before the 25th and the next month is not charged. You keep every summary and every prepared pack in your portal, and we hand over your records in a spreadsheet so the next person can carry on.
Want the CIPC side watched too?
The compliance retainer (R1 490 a year) keeps the annual return, beneficial ownership and company records in order alongside your books.
See the retainerBookkeeping, not tax advice or tax return submission, which the law reserves for registered tax practitioners. Provisional tax dates and rules come from SARS and can change; see the provisional tax season page for the current dates.
