Is there a registered company yet? PSiRA registers businesses, so the entity comes first.

Is the business already registered with PSiRA?

Are all directors registered with PSiRA at Grade B or higher? The business cannot be registered until every director is.

How many security officers will you employ? Sets your PSiRA annual fee band.

Will you use two-way radios? Most business radios need an ICASA licence, which takes months.

Will any staff be foreign nationals? Only citizens and permanent residents may be security officers.

Documents to start gathering

Nearly all of these must be certified copies. Certification is free at a police station and is generally treated as valid for three months, so do it close to submission. The full reference is on the paperwork page.

Do I have to pay to use this?

No. The questionnaire is free and produces your plan, your document list and your costs whether or not you order anything from us. Nothing you type leaves the page unless you press one of the send buttons at the end.

Can ProperSA apply on my behalf?

For the online applications, yes: PSiRA business and officer registration, CIPC, COIDA, UIF and SARS can all be prepared and submitted for you. For SAPS firearm applications, no. Those must be handed in personally by the applicant to the Designated Firearms Officer where they ordinarily reside, so what we do there is prepare the application and the motivation so your one trip to the station is the only one you need.

What happens after I send my answers?

You get a written reply within one business day with a fixed quote covering only what you actually need, and a document request list. Nothing starts and nothing is charged until you accept that in writing.
