Frequently asked questions

What do I need before I can bid on a government tender?

The Tender ready pack, R890, puts the CSD registration, tax compliance and the standard tender paperwork in one orderly file within 3 to 5 business days. If a bid asks for a B-BBEE affidavit, the affidavit and tender pack is R490, sworn on the dtic (Department of Trade, Industry and Competition) template with the ownership check done, within 2 business days.

Which CIDB grade do I need?

CIDB registration at Grade 1, R1 490, lets you tender for public construction work up to R500 000, with the class of works chosen with you. Grades 2 to 9 are assessed on financial and track record evidence, R2 990, and we confirm the grade your numbers support before anything is lodged. Adding a class you do not hold is R690 for an existing registration, with the CIDB fee at cost.

Can you check my tender before I submit it?

Yes. The tender compliance audit, R1 490, checks one bid line by line for missing forms, signatures, dates and compulsory documents, with one correction re-check. The tender compliance vault, R590 a month, keeps the standard bid documents in one monitored file with monthly readiness checks and expiry reminders.

I build houses. Do I need the NHBRC?

Yes. NHBRC registration is required before you build a house for anyone else. The service is R1 490 and covers the application, the technical assessment and the induction booking. The annual renewal is R990, with the next due date diarised.
